About Weston Wamp

Leading Hamilton County Forward

Weston Wamp is an entrepreneur, a noted conservative reformer and a Regent here in Tennessee. But most importantly, he’s just “dad” to his and Shelby’s four children.

As the fourth Mayor in Hamilton County’s history, Weston Wamp has led with the conviction of a father of five young children who is determined to shape a community where every family can build a strong future.

Though raised in a family rooted in public service, Wamp entered county government as an outsider and became the youngest County Mayor ever elected in Hamilton County. From the beginning, he has focused on protecting taxpayers, supporting families, investing in infrastructure, and training the next generation for the jobs of the future. His leadership has centered on modernizing county government, strengthening public education, and preserving the quality of life that makes Hamilton County special.

Before becoming County Mayor, Wamp served on the Tennessee Board of Regents, where he saw firsthand how career and technical education can change lives — opening doors to high-paying jobs and small business ownership. In the private sector, he worked as an early-stage investor, helping grow small businesses in Tennessee and abroad. He also founded a fiscal policy nonprofit that became the In the Black movement, a statewide initiative focused on protecting the conservative fiscal principles that have made Tennessee strong for generations.

Weston listens to everybody, and that's important. We need his energy and enthusiasm as County Mayor.

Creator and Problem Solver

As County Mayor, Wamp secured the $10 million purchase of the historic Golden Gateway site in downtown Chattanooga to build the Franklin-Roberts Future Ready Center, a new vocational high school supported by Governor Bill Lee and celebrated as the successor to Kirkman Technical High School. The campus, opening in 2027, anchors his broader effort to expand access to career and technical education, including millions in new investments at schools in Soddy-Daisy, Harrison, East Ridge, Howard, and Hixson.

He also led passage of a $250 million plan to modernize school facilities across the county, funding an innovative YMCA elementary school in Hixson, a full renovation of Soddy-Daisy Middle, and the creation of a new Brainerd Middle-High School.

Beyond education, Wamp created the County Roads Fund, dedicating $20 million to road safety and traffic improvements and paving more lane miles than ever before. Under his leadership, Hamilton County EMS became fully staffed for the first time in years, first responders earned historic pay raises, and the state’s first overdose-prevention team was launched to combat the opioid epidemic.

A proud public school parent and proven fiscal conservative, Wamp introduced term limits for the County Mayor, cut nearly $3 million in operating expenses, and lowered property taxes to an 84-year low, all while making record investments in schools, roads, and public safety.

Through disciplined leadership and a commitment to protecting taxpayers, supporting families, investing in infrastructure, and preparing the next generation, Weston Wamp has helped Hamilton County do more with less — modernizing government and building a stronger future for every community across our county.
